Faith Tabernacle Church
Pastor Jim Reneau is a fifth generation minister, raised in Northern California, in the land of the Redwoods. His father, Richard O Reneau, pastored at Faith Tabernacle in Boynton Beach, for five years prior to his coming to Faith Farm. Pastor Jim attended both, International Bible College in Texas, and Golden Oaks Bible College in California. In 1977 he was ordained with the International Ministerial Association and also carries an ordained minister’s license with Fellowship of Ministers International Inc. For nine years he served as associate pastor in Idaho. From Idaho the Lord called Pastor Jim and his wife Debbie to Alaska where they pastored for 6 years. The Lord then called them to Sacramento where they worked in the ministry and fellowshipped for 11 years under the leadership of Pastor Mark Tucker of New Life Community Church in Fair Oaks, California. Pastor Jim and his wife were married in 1974. They have 4 children and are enjoying being grandparents. It has always been his passion to train up men and women in the work of the ministry. He is now mentoring and training graduate students and community members in ministry preparation. Pastor Jim and his wife work as a team with those in the residential program of Faith Farm, and with the community members of the church, offering personal and marital counseling. Concerning his seamless partnership with his wife: A prophet in California once told him, “You are like a pair of Clydesdale horses pulling together.”
The Church Today
We believe that this is God’s kingdom church dispensation age, an era of apostolic church procedure established on the day of Pentecost as stated in Acts 2. In God’s kingdom church plan, Jesus has returned to us – the Holy Ghost, as a spiritual rock to be the head of His church. We, the believers, make up the body of Christ, – the church and though we be many members, are one body, and are subject to one authority, the Lord Jesus Christ. Eph. 2:20-22; I Cor. 3:11; I Cor. 12:12-14; I Peter 2:6,7; Luke 17:20, 21; Rom 14:17; Heb. 12:28; Eph. 1:14 & 2:5,6.
The Holy Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, infallible in its original writings. II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:19-21.
We believe in the one ever-living, eternal God, infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purpose; in His absolute, indivisible deity. This one true God has revealed Himself in a triune manner as Father, Son and Holy Ghost – Spirit.
The Son of God
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law; Gal. 4:4,5. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; Col. 2:9, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself; II Cor. 5:19, that no man can come unto the father but by and through the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood, that the Son of God is the only hope of the world. The anointed man, Christ Jesus, was the mediator between God and man. I Tim. 2:5; Rom.3:25.
The Fall of Man
We believe that in the beginning, God created man innocent, pure and holy. But, through the sin of disobedience, Adam fell; hence by one man’s disobedience, sin entered into the world. Gen 1:27; Rom 5:12.
The Five Fold Ministry – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe the church is sovereign, accountable to God for operation, with the Five Fold Ministry for operation according to Eph. 4:11-12, each member accountable to each other, and not over each other. I Cor. 12:27-31
The Redemption Plan – FOR THE BELIEVER
We believe our redemption has been accomplished solely by the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made sin for us, dying in our form and stead, rising again from the dead, ascending with His glorified body to the right hand of God Power and by believing in this finished work, we are justified before God, cleansed of all our sins and redeemed from the curse of the law. Rom. 5:1, Acts 13:39; II Cor. 5:14-21; Gal. 2:16; Gal. 3:13; I Pet. 1:18-19; Tit. 2:14; Rev. 5:9.
Repentance – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe in repentance to God, confessing ourselves as sinners, receiving forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ and His blood atonement for sinners, witnessed by a definite change from sin to righteousness. Acts 17:30; 11:18; 2:38-39.
The Gift of the Holy Ghost – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for believers, obtained by obedience to the above prescribed plan – Acts 2:38, 39; 5:30-32, by asking – Luke 11:9, 10, 13, evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, as a distinct, separate, and subsequent experience to conversion; also that it is the standard of the normal Christian experience since Pentecost.
Sanctification – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe in the work of sanctification, sanctified by God, set apart for His service. – I Thes. 5:23. Our sanctification is a process of dedication throughout the believer’s life, fulfilling the purpose we have already made with God. Romans 6.
Water Baptism – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe that Water Baptism – immersion is for believers and should be administered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ according to the Acts of the Apostles – Acts 2:38; 10:48; 19:5, thus fulfilling Matt. 28:19, and Luke 24:47.
The Gifts of the Spirit – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe the nine gifts of the Spirit should be manifested in the church today, and that all Spirit filled believers should earnestly covet the best gifts for the edification and up-building of the church. I Cor. 2:1-11.
The Fruit of the Spirit – NECESSARY TO THE PLAN
We believe the Spirit-filled believers will produce the fruit of the Spirit in their lives and their walk will be according to godliness and holy living. Gal. 5:22,23; I John 2:6; I Pet. 1:16; Tit. 2:11, 12; II Cor. 7:1.
Divine Healing – IN THE PLAN
We believe healing is in the atonement, that God is still the healer of His people, and that the church should recognize and practice this ministry as directed by the Lord Himself and practiced by His Apostles. Exod. 15:26; Isa. 53:5; James 5:14, 15; Heb. 13:8.
Communion – IN THE PLAN
We believe that all followers of Christ should partake of communion, in remembrance of His death until He comes. Luke 22:19,20; Matt. 26:26-18; I Cor. 11:20-26.
Foot Washing – IN THE PLAN
We believe in, and practice foot washing. John 13:2-17
Tithing – IN THE PLAN
We believe tithing is God’s financial plan to provide for His work, and has been since the days of Abraham. Tithing came with faith under Abraham; Moses’ law enjoined it, and Israel practiced it, when she was right with God; Jesus endorsed it – Matt. 23:23, and Paul said to lay be in store as God has prospered you. Do not rob God of His portion, namely tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8
Rewards and Judgment – IN THE PLAN
We believe the Bible clearly teaches a distinct judgment for believers only, spoken of in the Scripture as the “Judgment Seat of Christ,” where believers’ works shall be judged and rewards given. II Cor. 5:10; 1 Cor. 3:11-15. We believe that there will be a great and final judgment as recorded in the Word of God; Heb. 9:27; Rev. 20:11-15. This is the judgment of the unjust where all of the wicked are judged and all those whose names are not found written in the Book of Life shall be cast into the lake of fire burning with brimstone, which God has prepared for the devil. Matt. 25:41; Rev. 20:7-15; 21:8
